Dinosaurs, you know the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Stegosaurus,and even the Brontosaurus can be found in Modiins Anabe Park. Israels’ newest city dating back to the days from Roman times when Matthias and his sons leaders of the Maccabean Revolt lived in the area is a young city comprising of almost 100,000 residents..as you get off the plane in Ben Gurion Airport board an air conditioned train arriving in Modiin on time to do your shopping at Azrieli Shopping Center.
A Short bus ride away you can end up in Jerusalem for some more sightseeing or head for Tel Aviv the Seaside City for a dip in the Meditteranean Sea. If you wish to visit Ramla or Lod its a colourful way of spending a day outside of Tel Aviv or Jerusalem you can continue to see Jewish and Arab populations mix in harmony selling their wares and delicious fruits. Visit the local markets on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and see the lesser known tourist gems.
Modern day Modiin includes many parks including Anabe Park, its biggest Park with an ampitheatre and boats for hire by the hour. Sailing on her artificial lake and dining at the local Cafes wether you are after Japanese Cuisine, Italian Fare- in several local restaurants,meats at Titura in Ligad Center, or Burgers at Hamburgarim in Einav Industrial Center. Vegetarian delights at Cafe Joe or Angelos for entertainment inside the Cultural Hall if you manage to catch some Ballet, a Play or even comedy acts from the best Israel has to offer , unless you are really lucky and come just in time for some free Jazz or musicians playing live before discovering the local wine tasting at Latrun Monastery or the biking trails in the nearby Forest unless you prefer to head for Lod or Ramla for more adventures.
Ramla and Lod with there great Markets on Tuesdays where you can see Muslim dressed in fully clothed black garb covering their eyes side by side with men and women in singlet tops buying the freshest fruits and cheeses on offer in Israel as the vendors shout in Hebrew enticing all to buy.
On Wednesday the market moves to Ramla and after walking the streets of Ramla one can visit the Pool of Arches. Rowing underground in the underground water reservoir built in 789 during the days of the Ummah Caliphs b Haroun al Rashid. Salah-a Din, Napoleon Boneparte and Kings and Caesars all walked down her streets and a visit to the Franciscan Church or The Greek Orthodox Monastery can all be included in a morning trip after checking out Ramla Museum on Herzl Street or walking up the White Tower which was completed in 1318 to see the outlying areas from a height 30 metres above the street level before heading back to Modiin, Tel Aviv or Jerusalem for the night.
If you want more exercise you can always visit Titura Hill or Umm el Umdan to see the archeological ruins amidst the beautiful flowers blooming in Spring or work off some sweat in the open air exercise parks all around Modiin before trying a cool Gelato at Gelatre in Mercaz Marlaz or heading of to the Dead Sea.
